商衟，字正叔，一作政叔。曹州济阴（今山东曹县）人。出身于簪缨世家。先祖本姓殷，因避宋宣帝赵弘殷讳，改姓商。父锡，因正叔兄仕金显贵，封朝大夫。与元好问有通家之好，交谊颇厚。好问有《陇山行役图》诗二首，记正叔漂泊生涯及二人友谊，中有“陇坂经行十遇春”之句，说明他往来东西，客居秦陇之地甚久。好问《曹南商氏千秋录》又说他“滑稽豪侠，有古人风”。正叔好词曲，善绘画，曾改编南宋初年艺人张五牛所作《双渐小卿诸宫调》，为青楼名妓赵真真、杨玉娥所传唱，今已不传。又曾为名妓张怡云绘"怡云图"。明·朱权《太和正音谱》评其词"如朝霞散彩"。
