（957—1017）宋大名莘县人，字子明。王祜子。太宗太平兴国五年进士。以著作郎预编《文苑英华》。真宗咸平时，累官同知枢密院事、参知政事。契丹进犯，从真宗至澶州，因东京留守雍王暴疾，驰还权留守事。景德三年拜相，监修《两朝国史》。尝劝真宗行祖宗之法，慎所改变。善知人，多荐用厚重之士。天禧元年，以疾罢相。卒赠太师，谥文正。有文集。
