释善能，严陵（今浙江桐庐）人。往来龙门、云居有年。高宗绍兴十四年（一一四四）春至福州中际寺，岁馀遂继席。为南岳下十六世，云居善悟禅师法嗣。《嘉泰普灯录》卷二○、《五灯会元》卷二○有传。今录诗三首。
